The Girls’ School of Austin hosted its annual Gala on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. This year’s theme, Mystery at the Speakeasy, had guests donning their finest 1920’s-inspired attire – some decked out as flappers, dapper gentlemen, and bootleggers. The evening started with a VIP reception during which guests had access to the silent auction. Silent auction opened to general attendees shortly after and guests mingled as they bid on a variety of exclusive items including the coveted teacher experiences, class canvases and this year’s popular mystery boxes. During a three-course dinner, a live auction was held with popular packages including a Chef’s dinner for ten, a Latin Fiesta for twenty, a week-long break in and a custom paddleboard. Of course, the evening wouldn’t be complete without some intrigue! The evening ended with tables battling to solve the theft of a mystery piece of art. Parents, community members, and teachers had a roaring good time and the evening raised more than $160,000 for the school.
