Some nights feel bigger than the moment. This year’s Spring Gala was one of them.

At The Girls’ School of Austin (GSA), our annual gala is always a celebration. But more than that, it’s a reflection of what makes our all-girls school community so special: connection, joy, and a shared commitment to helping our students grow into confident young women who lead intellectually vibrant and fulfilling lives.

This year, that spirit was everywhere. From the moment guests arrived, the room filled with a sense of excitement about what we’re building together.

A Community That Sees a Bright Future

More than 240 of our closest friends from the GSA community came together to See the Future for a night rooted in celebration, connection, and a shared investment in the bright future of our girls.

At its heart, the evening was about something simple but powerful: showing up for our community. Not just to celebrate who they are today, but to support who they are becoming. Here, the future is not something abstract. At our all-girls school in Austin, we see it every day in our classrooms, in our students, and in the community that surrounds them.

Experiences That Bring Our Students—and Parents—Closer

One of the most meaningful parts of the evening was the live auction.

Rather than focusing solely on material items, many of the featured experiences were designed specifically for our students—opportunities to build connection, express creativity, and celebrate community.

Take, for example, the Tie-Dye and Taco Bell experience. A class will spend the last day of school transforming their uniforms into one-of-a-kind tie-dye creations alongside Ms. B. It’s a day of fun complete with tacos, laughter, and a little dress-code violation (with Head of School approval, of course). Or Protocol: Zenith, an after-hours, escape-room-style adventure where students will work together to solve clues, crack codes, and race across campus in a high-energy, team-based mission.

While the live auction was filled with energy, laughter, and a little friendly competition, it also revealed something deeper. These moments do not just bring our students together. They bring our parents and community closer, too. What began as playful competition quickly turned into connection.

During the bidding for Retro Rollers and Rhythms, one class of parents raised their paddle not to outbid, but to help another class reach the winning number. It was spontaneous, generous, and a perfect reflection of what GSA is all about: showing up for one another.

In addition, our K–6 students contributed their own creativity to the evening, each creating a one-of-a-kind acrylic painting inspired by the theme “See the Future.” Displayed throughout the gala, these pieces were a beautiful reminder of the imagination and perspective our students bring to the world.

Introducing the Phoenix Fund: Investing in Our Teachers

This year’s gala also marked the launch of something new—the Phoenix Fund.

At The Girls School of Austin, we believe our greatest asset is our faculty. The teachers who challenge, nurture, and inspire our girls are at the heart of everything we do.

The Phoenix Fund was created with a simple but necessary idea in mind: when teachers are supported as whole people, that growth returns to the classroom in meaningful ways.

Unlike traditional professional development, the Phoenix Fund supports restorative and enriching experiences for faculty, offering opportunities that reignite curiosity, creativity, and passion.

It’s the natural evolution of our Firebird Fund, which supports student experiences. The Phoenix Fund represents the next stage of growth, investing in the educators who make those student experiences possible.

When we invest in our teachers, we invest in every girl who walks through our doors.

Join Us in Fueling the Future

The Phoenix Fund is more than an initiative, it’s an investment in the people who make GSA extraordinary. We invite you to be part of this next chapter.

Donate to the Phoenix Fund and help us continue to support, inspire, and elevate both our students and our teachers. Together, we can keep fueling the future.
