Bronson Dorsey’s connection to The Girls’ School of Austin (GSA) began in a way few might expect. Although he was the father of two grown sons, his journey with GSA started not as a parent, but as a project manager. He was tasked with overseeing the construction of the school’s new campus—a project that would soon become much more than just another job. As Bronson worked alongside the GSA community to bring their vision to life, he fell in love with the school’s mission, its students, and the sense of purpose that permeated every corner.

What started as a professional assignment quickly evolved into a deep personal commitment. Bronson joined GSA’s board, where he played a pivotal role in successfully completing the new, beautiful campus that students still enjoy today. But his dedication didn’t end there.

For the next decade, Bronson served as GSA’s Director of Facilities, ensuring the school remained a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for the girls who passed through its doors. His role wasn’t just behind the scenes—many of you still remember him standing outside every morning during drop-off, greeting students with his infectious smile and fun remarks about the day’s obscure holiday. “Happy Chocolate Cupcake Day!” he’d say with a grin, bringing a touch of joy to the start of the school day.

Even after retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 school year, Bronson’s connection to GSA has remained strong. His most recent gesture—a generous $10,000 matching gift to the Firebird Fund—demonstrates his continued belief in the power of giving. This matching gift was made in honor of his mother-in-law, Bertha Watson, and was designed to encourage new families at GSA to contribute, helping them see that every donation, no matter the size, has a meaningful impact when we come together as a community. We are so grateful to Bronson and Cathryn Dorsey for their continued support!

For Bronson, this gift isn’t just about the financial support; it’s about fostering a legacy of generosity and involvement. He hopes to inspire others to carry on the tradition of giving back, ensuring that future generations of GSA girls can thrive in a school that has always felt like home.

Bronson Dorsey’s legacy at GSA is far-reaching. From overseeing the construction of the campus to serving the school with dedication and heart for over a decade, his impact is woven into the fabric of the community. His generosity, both in spirit and action, continues to inspire new families to get involved, ensuring that the next generation of Firebirds will soar even higher.
