Financial Aid

You could be eligible for Financial Aid!

Through its Admissions and Financial Aid programs, the Girls’ School of Austin is committed to a diverse and mission-appropriate student body. Admission decisions are made by the Admissions Committee on the basis of an applicant’s talents and strengths, on her potential to thrive at The Girls’ School, and on her capacity to contribute to the School community, as well as on the family’s commitment to the mission and values of the school. Financial Aid decisions are made by the Financial Aid Committee on the basis of demonstrated need and availability of funds.

The primary obligation for financing a student’s education lies with the family. We expect that the family will be willing to make significant adjustments in the use of discretionary resources in order to meet educational costs. The purpose of the financial aid program is to fill the gap between the actual cost of a year’s tuition and what a family can reasonably be expected to pay toward that cost, no matter what that gap may be. The parental contribution calculated by the School might be different from the one calculated by the NAIS School and Student Service(SSS). All families are expected to make a contribution toward the cost of their daughter’s education.

As is common with most independent schools, The Girls’ School subscribes to SSS to help evaluate a family’s ability to pay. Families submit a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) either online or as a paper form, directly to SSS, which then sends results of the evaluation to the School. Paper copies of the form are available in the GSA office. Please allow adequate time for paper forms to be processed by SSS (two weeks suggested).

January 15 Families mail completed PFS to SSS (if choosing to use a paper form).
February 1 Families complete the PFS online (if choosing the online version).
