Dear GSA Community:

The past weeks have afforded me the opportunity to meet multiple times with the board, consult with GSA’s previous long-term head of school, Lisa Schmitt, and talk with GSA leadership, faculty, and staff. I am inspired by our collective commitment and am looking forward to a promising spring semester.

Through thoughtful discussions, and with thorough consideration for the immediate needs of our school, the GSA board unanimously agrees on the following interim leadership plan.

  • Our goal is to have a permanent head of school in place for the 2021-2022 school year.

  • A comprehensive head of school search typically takes 16 months. We will begin the search for GSA’s next permanent head of school this spring and will have interim leadership until the 2021-2022 school year.

  • To continue to provide an exemplary education for our girls and provide stability and consistency in this time of transition, Shanna Prewitt-Hines and Frances Ramberg are joining forces and combining their expertise and experience to co-lead the school.

  • Ms. Prewitt-Hines and Ms. Ramberg will serve in this capacity from now until the end of the 2019-2020 school year.

  • Ms. Prewitt-Hines will continue to be the contact for admissions and will be the point person for lower school queries or concerns. Ms. Ramberg will be the point person for middle school.

  • Shanna, Frances and I will continue to work together to define specific responsibilities and ensure the smooth running of the school.

  • I will continue to provide an open line of communication to respond to the needs and concerns of our faculty and community.

  • Over the next three months, we will evaluate and determine our interim leadership options for the school year 2020-2021.

  • The board will support our co-leaders to ensure that the GSA continues to educate our girls, admit new students, and support our faculty and staff in ways that reflect who we are as a community.

The GSA community is truly one of a kind, and I am proud to serve as your board president.

Sincerely,

Tricia Yost
