On April 28 and 29 The Girls’ School of Austin held their 16th annual Self-Portrait Show – The Surreal Me. Parents, staff, and neighbors attended the event which was held on Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 pm at GSA. This year’s theme was surrealism. Students learned about famous surrealist painters and styles including Salvador Dali and René Magritte before creating their own masterpieces. The 150 self-portraits all had an unreal twist that mirrored their personalities and imagination. The show also featured an 8th grade retrospective, featuring the 8th graders’ self-portraits from all their year’s at GSA. Refreshments were provided by Teo’s Gelato and parent volunteers.
