Welcome back to another exciting year of learning at the Girls' School of Austin! Every Friday, we send out On The Horizon, our weekly email newsletter. This email will provide you with important announcements, reminders, and dates. We also ensure each week brings fresh content to avoid repetition, making each email essential for its unique information. On The Horizon and the weekly emails from your child's teacher are our primary school communications, so please add us to your "Safe Senders" list in case these emails appear in your spam folder.

GSA Lunch Program: Haute Lunch 

Haute Lunch (pronounced Hot Lunch!) is a local Austin company owned and managed by Austin parents who are also food service professionals. Their goal is to provide a balanced menu with healthy food that your kids will love—familiar choices and healthy options. You can read their welcome letter here.

Lunches can now be ordered throughout the week, but you must submit your child's order two days before the meal date. For example, if you would like to order lunch for Tuesday, the order will need to be submitted by 11:59 PM on Sunday.

The menu for August can be found here. The menus for the following months will be posted no later than the 25th.

Want one of these groovy GSA t-shirts for your wardrobe? If you haven't purchased one yet, all sizes are available for $25 (plus tax) with Ms. Chandler at the front desk. Thank you to our 8th Grade class for helping choose the design for this year!

Lunchtime Visitors

The start of the school year is a time for establishing routines and expectations for various school functions, including drop-off, dismissal, and lunch. Since this time is so crucial in developing expectations for the whole year, we ask that parents do not come for lunch visits until after clear lunch routines have been established.

Back to School Night is a good milestone to indicate that the school year is fully underway. All parents (LS and MS) are welcome to join their students for a lunch visit from 11:35 AM to 12:00 PM starting on September 3rd, 2024, the week after Lower School Back to School Night.

Car Line Reminders

As we settle into our routines for the year, we wanted to share some very important reminders about drop-off and pick-up. Our parking lot is on the smaller side, so we ask that everyone follow these guidelines to help things run smoothly and, most importantly, safely! Thank you in advance for your patience as everyone gets back into the rhythm of our drop-off and pick-up routines.

GSA Directory on Membership Toolkit

In the past, GSA printed a paper directory. Now, we use an app-based directory called Membership Toolkit. The Membership Toolkit app is a great resource for quickly looking up parent names, email addresses, phone numbers, and even addresses. You can find instructions for setting up your account and downloading the app here.

This tool is incredibly useful, and we hope you all take advantage of it! The rosters that were included in your Summer Packets do not reflect the complete roster for your class, so please use Membership Toolkit instead.

Register for After School Programs

From coding to fencing to filmmaking, the Girls' School of Austin provides plenty of After School programs for your student to enjoy! We still have a few slots open, so be sure to register your student for an After School program by August 23rd (password is welovelearning).

Classes start on August 26th, and the last day to drop an After School program and request a refund is September 6th.

Aftercare also officially begins on August 19th. Click here for more information.

We Love Our Volunteers!

GSA relies on parent and caregiver volunteers in many ways throughout the school year, and we encourage every parent to get involved! This not only enhances the GSA experience for our students, but for you as a parent as well. Individual classes will also notify you about other opportunities throughout the year. Please sign up here, and feel free to select as many opportunities as you would like!

2024-2025 School Year Theme: We Are Trailblazers!

Each year, the Girls' School of Austin selects a theme for the school year that channels an important message about girls' empowerment. Our theme for this year, "We Are Trailblazers!," is a powerful reminder that each of our girls will forge her own path, embrace challenges, and make her mark on the world. Stay tuned to hear more about this theme throughout the school year!
