Self-Portrait Show: Renaissance Girl
It’s time for one of GSA’s most beloved traditions—the Annual Self-Portrait Show!
Join us on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3 from 1:00–3:00 PM for this year’s exhibition, Renaissance Girl. Our Kinder–8th Grade students have created a stunning collection of self-portraits inspired by the Renaissance period, drawing from the work of artists like Leonardo da Vinci, Artemisia Gentileschi, and contemporary Florentine artist Joseph Moussa.
Throughout this study, students explored not only portraiture, but also the broader spirit of the Renaissance; engaging with ideas around architecture, invention, landscape design, and printmaking. Our older students deepened their learning through guest speakers and field trips, bringing these concepts to life in meaningful ways. The result is a collection of work that is vivid, expressive, and deeply personal.
As always, the show will also feature the 8th Grade retrospective, a special highlight celebrating our graduating students and their artistic growth over the years. This is a beautiful, can’t-miss celebration of creativity and community. |

Digital Safety and Your Daughter's Online World
At GSA, we believe that educating the whole student means preparing her not just for the classroom, but for every space she inhabits, including digital ones. Intellectual growth, curiosity, and creativity flourish when young women feel confident and grounded in who they are, and that confidence must extend online. We want to share two developments worth your attention. -
TikTok recently introduced a setting called Allow AI to Remix Content, which is enabled by default on both new and existing videos. In practice, this makes a creator's raw footage (including face and voice) available as source material for AI-generated content. This means your daughter's videos could be remixed into content she never made or approved. We recommend reviewing this setting together and deciding as a family whether to disable it.
-
Research continues to confirm what many families already sense: the algorithms powering Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and TikTok are engineered to maximize time on screen by engaging the brain's reward systems. For adolescents, this repeated loop can quietly erode confidence and heighten anxiety; not because something is wrong with your daughter, but because these systems are remarkably effective at what they're designed to do. Awareness is a genuine advantage here.

Beyond the Fence - One More Step Together
As we look ahead to the Planning Commission hearing on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:00 PM, we want to underscore how meaningful it will be to have a strong GSA presence in the room.
Even if you’re only able to attend for a portion of the evening, it makes a difference. Seeing our girls in uniform, standing proudly in support of their school, alongside their families, is a powerful reflection of who we are as a community.
We know many of you have already given your time and energy, and we are deeply grateful. If you are able, we hope you’ll join us for this important moment. |

We Love This Community (Like…A Lot)! Okay, real talk for a second: this parent community is something else.
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind—in the best way. A record-breaking Gala, a flood of letters of support, Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week that had our faculty feeling very well-fed and very loved…
But honestly, it’s the everyday moments that really get us. It’s teachers sitting down together at lunch—actually sitting—because volunteers made it happen. It’s parents loading up cars with giggly girls to shuttle them to and from field trips.
It’s the Uniform Closet, lovingly folded and organized, ready to save the day (again) when a wardrobe malfunction inevitably strikes. It’s all the things you do, seen and unseen, that keep this place running.
We couldn't do it without you. We are incredibly lucky to have a parent community that is this engaged, this generous, and this all-in.
From all of us that are faculty and staff—thank you. |
