Scholastic Art Awards

We’re excited to share that GSA is once again well represented in the Regional Scholastic Art Awards. With thousands of submissions received each year, earning recognition is a meaningful accomplishment; and year after year, GSA students continue to stand out. This year is no different.

Just as important, we want to recognize the courage it takes for our students to put their work out into the world. Preparing, polishing, and submitting art to a juried competition builds real life skills—meeting deadlines, following guidelines, persevering through revisions, and taking creative risks. We’re proud of every student who entered!

STEM Girl Day at UT

Mark your calendar and register your K–8th Grader now for STEM Girl Day 2026 at the University of Texas at Austin on Saturday, February 28, 2026. STEM Girl Day is FREE for all participants.

Please note: STEM Girl Day is a chaperoned event. All minors must attend programming with an accompanying adult.

Unexpected Visitor Policy

Did you know GSA has a written Unexpected Visitor Policy in place? All visitors are required to check in at the Front Office, state their purpose on campus, and have their ID verified. Unexpected visitors may not enter beyond the Front Office (with the exception of parents coming for lunch with their child between 11:35 a.m.–12:00 p.m.). Visitors are expected to sign in, have IDs scanned, and wear a visitor badge while on campus.

If a visitor is from law enforcement, immigration enforcement, or child protective services and is seeking information or an individual, school administration will verify credentials and any legal documentation with the school’s legal counsel before any next steps are taken. If documentation cannot be confirmed, the visitor will be politely asked to return when it is in order.

Beyond the Fence - Site Development Update

This week, our project team—including architects, engineers, planners, and landscape designers—continued reviewing information gathered during recent on-site discussions focused on GSA’s program needs. This work is helping shape campus improvements that thoughtfully support our students while remaining sensitive to the surrounding neighborhood.

In addition, traffic data for the Neighborhood Traffic Analysis was collected January 6–9. This data will be submitted to the City of Austin as part of the Conditional Use Permit application, an important step in the site development process.

We’ll continue to share updates here as this work moves forward.
