Lion Dance Coming to GSA

On Friday, February 20, during Community Meeting the GSA will experience a Lion Dance performance—a joyful, high-energy tradition often seen during Lunar New Year celebrations!  With vibrant costumes and dynamic movement, the Lion Dance is believed to bring good luck, ward off negative energy, and welcome prosperity.

The girls can expect lots of excitement as the lion moves through the MUB—and they may even get a chance to “feed the lion,” a traditional gesture symbolizing good fortune and blessings for the year ahead.

It’s a fun and meaningful way for our community to experience this beautiful cultural tradition together!

On Educating Girls Podcast

We love sharing resources with our parent community that support ongoing learning and conversation around educating girls. One such resource is the ICGS (International Coalition of Girls’ School) podcast On Educating Girls: Creating a World of Possibilities, which explores topics related to girls’ education and development.

If you’re interested in parent education content you can engage with on your own time, this podcast may be worth a listen.

Book Fair Volunteers Needed

We’re looking for parent volunteers to help with Family Night at BookPeople on Tuesday, February 10! It’s always a fun evening celebrating reading and community, and extra hands make all the difference.

If you’re able to help, please sign up here.

Beyond the Fence - Site Development Update

You may have noticed the recent clearing at the 1913 property. We want to share a brief update and some context around the work that took place. Many of the trees on the property were damaged during a storm that happened last Spring. Under the guidance of a certified arborist, the damaged or unhealthy trees were identified, tagged and ultimately removed.

On December 16, 2025, the City’s Environmental Inspector visited the site and confirmed that the tree work completed met the requirements and allowances outlined in the City’s Land Development Code. The inspector did request one additional tree permit, and that paperwork has since been submitted to the City.

This week, our site development team continues making progress in the planning process. The site plan will include the expertise of a landscape architect, with a focus on adding native plants and trees to enhance the look and feel of both the GSA campus and the surrounding neighborhood.

At the upcoming Parent Salon on February 11th, GSA families will have the opportunity to see the site plan that will be presented to the City as a part of the Conditional Use Permit (CUP) process. We will then share the site plans with the neighbors on February 23.

The GSA community is welcome and encouraged to attend that meeting as well!
