GSA Chamber Orchestra Plays at UN Concert for Peace

We’re delighted to announce that the GSA Chamber Orchestra has been invited to perform at the 2025 United Nations International Day of Peace Concert at the Texas State Capitol.

When: Saturday, September 20
Time:  12:00–1:00 PM
Where: Texas State Capitol

This free community event, hosted by GlobalTexas and the United Nations Association Austin Chapter, brings together music and cultural performances from schools and organizations across Austin. The GSA Chamber Orchestra will perform a five-minute piece as one of many local ensembles, helping celebrate this year’s theme, “Together for a Peaceful World,” and the dedication of a peace pole as a symbol of unity.

At GSA, our approach to music education focuses on developing a lifelong love of music; and we are proud of how our Chamber Orchestra is building its skill and artistry, and we know their finesse will continue to grow throughout the school year.

We warmly invite our GSA community to attend and support our young musicians as they share their talents with the community.

Keeping the Peace with GSA's Neighbors

In the spirit of peace, we want to thank you for your patience and cooperation during Drop-Off and Pick-Up. We know mornings and afternoons can be hectic, and how we navigate arrival and dismissal matters—not only for safety and efficiency, but also for our relationship with our neighbors. Our ability to grow and build on our newly purchased land depends on being a good citizen in the neighborhood.

The main issue: There should only be one line of cars heading NORTH on McCall Road into the GSA driveway. Recently, multiple cars have tried to merge from side streets or cut in at the entrance, creating tension, blocking neighbors’ driveways and sidewalks, and undermining the flow of traffic.

To keep everyone safe and respectful, please:

  • Do Not Turn South onto McCall from Windsor.
  • Form one line only heading north on McCall Road by merging at Griswold and McCall.
  • Please avoid parking on McCall. Our neighbors' driveways have been blocked by cars parked along McCall Road. Families are able to park on other streets surrounding the GSA.
  • Wait your turn—please don’t cut ahead or merge from alternate routes.
  • Model patience and courtesy—your children are watching and learning from you.

We know everyone is juggling busy schedules. As a GSA community, we can make arrival and dismissal smoother and safer for all by practicing patience, respect, and a shared commitment to our neighborhood. With your cooperation, we can continue to build positive relationships and lay the groundwork for GSA’s future growth.

The Care and Keeping of the Uniform Closet

We’ve noticed more bags of uniforms being left in the front office and Lisa’s House. Please remember to fold and place donated uniforms directly into the wardrobe in Lisa’s House so other families can access them right away.

We also need volunteers to help keep the wardrobe organized. Please sign up here to assist with the Uniform Closet. Thank you for helping us keep this resource neat and available for everyone!

Directory Now Available on Blackbaud

Parents can now access a searchable directory on Blackbaud that includes names, phone numbers, and email addresses. Eventually parents may be able to display their home addresses via an opt-in policy.

Please remember: this information is provided for personal, school-related use only. It may not be used for political outreach, sales, or any other non-school solicitation. Thank you for respecting the privacy of our families and keeping our community connections positive and appropriate.
