Announcing This Year's Self-Portrait Theme

The GSA’s annual Self-Portrait Show is just around the corner! This year, students have explored the luminous color, expressive movement, and rich textures of Impressionism, drawing inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh’s swirling skies and Mary Cassatt’s intimate, light-filled portraits to bring their unique visions to life.

Join us on May 3 & 4 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM for “Starry, Starry Me...,” a collection of vivid, expressive, and deeply personal self-portraits created by our talented Kinder – 8th Grade students. Through color, light, and texture, each piece captures both emotion and movement in true Impressionist style.

We need volunteers to help bring this year’s Self-Portrait Show to life! Click the button below to lend a hand and be part of something truly special!

7th to 8th Grade Meeting--Your Presence is Strongly Encouraged

It's time for the 7th-to-8th Grade Parent Transition Meeting, which will take place on Monday, April 14 at 8:15am in the MUB. This meeting is essential to ensure you're fully prepared for your daughter's upcoming 8th Grade year at the GSA. We’ll cover important topics including beloved 8th Grade traditions, key calendar events, and what to expect during the high school transition process. Your participation is highly recommended so you’re in the loop and ready to support your daughter through this exciting final year.

Also, as part of a cherished GSA tradition, 7th Grade parents play a key role in helping set up for the Class of 2025's Eighth Grade Graduation festivities in May. (Don't worry—next year’s 7th Grade families will do the same for you!) At the meeting, we’ll walk through the graduation checklist together, and you’ll hear tips from a current 8th Grade parent to help make it all manageable and meaningful.

Please make every effort to attend—we’re counting on you!

Road Construction and Potential Road Closures

Beginning Monday, April 7th, the City of Austin will begin the work of installing a new water pipe in Tarrytown. Crews will be working on Griswold Ln, McCall Rd, Winsted Ln, and Dormarion Ln.

There will be Road Closures that may affect our GSA community.  “No Parking” signs will be put up in the areas that will be closed, 48 hours prior to closure.

Please follow “No Parking” signs.  The City of Austin will tow cars in violation of the signs. Please do not park in faculty parking spots; instead consider parking on a different neighborhood street.  And as always, please be respectful of our neighbors' right-of-way and driveways.

The City hopes to complete this stretch of work within a month.
