Save The Date: Grandparents Day on November 8

It's that time of the year again! Grandparents Day will be held on November 8 this year, and we would love to have all of our Grandparents and Grand-friends come onto campus to celebrate. An email with further details will be sent out to all the Grandparent emails we have on file, but we wanted to make sure the word gets out as soon as possible.

Please share this date with the special Grandparents and Grand-friends in your students' life so they can mark your calendars, and stay tuned for more information!

New Faces at the GSA

With the new school year fully underway, we wanted to give a warm welcome to our staff members who either started at the beginning of this school year or halfway through last school year. If you've been following along with our Welcome Week Series on Instagram and Facebook, you already have a brief introduction. You can also see their photos and short biographies here.

Announcing Theme Parade 2024: "Adventure is Out There!"

Get your costumes ready! Here at GSA, our annual Theme Parade is one of our longest-standing traditions. A unique twist on Halloween, our Theme Parade gives students the opportunity to express themselves by creating and wearing a costume based on our annual theme. On the day of the parade, everyone dresses up in their costumes, parades around campus, and enjoys a series of fun-filled activities.

This year, Theme Parade will be held on Friday, October 25, and the theme for this year is "Adventure is Out There!"

Students may dress up as real-life explorers, animals from the great outdoors, or even fictional characters from fantasy worlds! The possibilities are truly endless. See the photos below for some inspiration, and we can't wait to see what students come up with this year!

Also, as a reminder, we ask that all costumes be respectful and culturally responsible. It goes without saying, but please make sure that your daughter does not alter her skin color or hair to that of another race. In addition, costumes should not attempt to represent or imitate other peoples' cultural or religious identity. Throughout the year, we will have age-appropriate conversations about the difference between cultural appropriation and appreciation, and how to celebrate cultures that have been historically targeted. We also ask that costumes do not include weapons of any kind, real or fake.

Parent Education: Social Institute Middle School Family Workshop on September 13

Struggling to set (and stick to!) rules and standards for social media and technology in your family? In this interactive challenge, you'll lock arms with your child and work together to create a personalized Family Standards Agreement that guides the whole family to navigate the digital world that aligns with your family's values. Through collaboration, you'll be able to define how your family can ensure a safe and balanced approach to social media and technology.

All Middle School families are welcome on campus Friday, September 13 from 8:30 - 9:30 AM for this unique opportunity to collaborate on Family Standards for engaging with social media! We invite the whole family to join us for this workshop led by our partners at The Social Institute. RSVP at the link below!
