| Parent Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast- April 15
Please join us on Monday morning in the MUB! Our faculty and staff would like to show their appreciation with a potluck breakfast. We will bring all the food, juice, and coffee, and we invite you to come enjoy a small token of our appreciation. This Volunteer Appreciation breakfast will be Monday, April 15th from 8:00-9:00am in the MUB. This is a come and go, so even if you can just run in for a pastry and coffee before work, please do! If you have helped out in any capacity this year (which is all of you!), we hope to see you there!

Welcome Dr. Kelley Glover - New GSA Board Member
The Girls' School of Austin is excited to welcome Dr. Kelly T. Glover as a member of the Board of Trustees! Dr. Glover is an educator with 29 years of experience in educational leadership and music education. She earned her Ph.D. in School Improvement from Texas State and music education degrees from Howard University and the Eastman School of Music. Her research interests focus on understanding cultural somatics (body-informed leadership that disrupts White body supremacy) in relation to promoting diversity, inclusion, belonging, and equity initiatives on college campuses and secondary schools.
Dr. Glover is the creator of an ear-training cartoon and game app called "U BETTER Sing!” Her company also mentored youth interested in having careers in the arts. “U BETTER Sing!” was featured on the PBS show "Blackademics,” where she discussed how culturally hegemonic practices affect music education and students from marginalized backgrounds. Her company’s products were also sent overseas to work with young Nigerian girls affected by the Boko Haram crisis in an initiative to educate and heal students through music. She is happily married and enjoys cooking, sleeping, exploring new restaurants, going for long walks, and binge-watching old episodes of “Columbo” because he ALWAYS gets his man…or woman!
We are thrilled to have Dr. Glover joining our Board of Trustees! |

Frequently Asked Questions- CTP Testing
Our annual CTP tests are coming the last week of April/early May. At the GSA, we administer the CTP in Third through Eighth grades. The CTP is a rigorous assessment for students covering reading, vocabulary, writing, and mathematics. The CTP helps us (educators) assess content specific, curriculum-based performance alongside reasoning ability and conceptual knowledge so that we can adjust our curriculum and provide you some additional information regarding your child's progress. Thank you to Ms. Santos who put together a document outlining the most frequently asked questions about our annual testing. If you have additional questions that are not addressed in this document, please let us know and we will add them!

Talent Show Update
This year there has been more interest in the Talent Show than ever before! We have always been able to accept every single act, group and solo, that has signed up. However, this year we had SIXTY acts sign up! While we love that all of our students want to use their vibrant voices and share their talents with us, for the first time ever we did have to ask students to choose ONE act this year, instead of the customary two (group and solo), in order to fit the length. We are sorry for any disappointment this has caused. Next year, we will be able to communicate in advance about what steps we will take if we have too many acts sign up. Thank you for understanding.
As a reminder, each act is required to attend a dress rehearsal after school on April 18 from 3:20-5:30pm in the MUB. We will be serving healthy snacks during the rehearsal.
