Calendar Updates

Spring Concerts: The evening concerts in the Spring for 6th-8th Graders have changed dates! The 6th-8th Piano concert has been moved to April 24th and the 6th-8th Strings concert will be on April 25th. The concerts for Kinder-Fifth Grade will remain on their original dates (May 15th & 16th). You can always find the most up to date calendar here!

First Day of School: We understand that many families are working on Summer plans. Our '24-'25 School Year schedule will be available soon, but we do want to let you know that orientation/open house days will be August 12th & 13th with the first day of school on August 14, 2024.
**Please note that this start date does NOT align with AISD. AISD will be starting the next week (August 20), but they will get out of school past Memorial Day in 2025. We have opted to begin August 14, 2024 so that we can end the school year before Memorial Day as our GSA families have come to expect.

GSA BookFair- Author Visits February 15th

The GSA BookFair is happening in-store and online February 12 - 18 at BookPeople on North Lamar! For this week only, 20% of all sales will go to GSA when you present this flyer or enter GSAFAMILY in the coupon code field during checkout for online orders.

This week-long celebration of books and reading will also include opportunities throughout the school day, including highly-anticipated author visits and “Stop, Drop, and Read” sessions during class.

In the meantime, get to know the authors who will be visiting our campus to speak with our students on February 15!

Kat Fajardo (they/she) will be presenting to our Middle School students at 9:00 AM. They are the Honduran Columbian award-winning cartoonist and illustrator of Miss Quinces: A Graphic Novel. Particularly, Kat loves to create playful and colorful work about self-acceptance and Latine culture.

Kari LaVelle (she/her) will be presenting to our Lower School students at 10:15 AM. She is the author of 3 books, including We Move The World, Butt or Face?, and Ode to Grapefruit: How James Earl Jones Discovered His Voice. With a background in speech pathology, Kari has always had a love for words, and she now channels that love into writing her books.

Vibrant Voices- New Podcast from ICSG

The Girls' School of Austin is a proud member of the International Coalition of Girls Schools (ICGS) whose vision is to be united in elevating women’s leadership worldwide by educating and empowering our students to be ethical, globally minded changemakers. ICGS creates fantastic resources that we like to share with our families as we work together to bring that vision to life within our own community. "The Connected Girl" is a new podcast series curated by ICGS that invites those who know, love and believe in empowering girls, to engage with the experts we have gathered to understand the power and possibility of the many connections in the lives of girls. This year's Spring Gala is going to be unlike any other event in the history of our school! The Girls' School of Austin was founded in 2002, so we are celebrating our LUCKY 21 year with a CASINO NIGHT! We will have it all: slots, craps, roulette, poker, blackjack!
