Enjoy a delectable dessert kolaches and savor the flavors of Lote's taco truck for dinner. Quench your thirst with a selection of craft beers, including the special GSA Golden Ale, with all proceeds going to the Firebird Fund. Sing your heart out, savor delicious bites, and raise a glass to support our beloved school!

White Cane Day- Oct. 18

GSA will be joining TSBVI (Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired) to celebrate the 21st Annual White Cane Day on October 18, 2023!

The mission of White Cane Day is to educate the world about blindness and how the blind and visually impaired can live and work independently while giving back to their communities, to celebrate the abilities and successes achieved by blind people in a sighted world and to honor the many contributions being made by the blind and visually impaired.

The plan is for all 4th - 8th graders to meet at Central Market (38th & Lamar) instead of being dropped off at the school. We will have the bus on site for storing backpacks and personal items. Students and teachers will join the walk to TSBVI, listen to speakers, enjoy some of the festivities, and shuttle back to GSA by bus.

Coach Sparks (our TSBVI liaison) will send all details coming closer to the event. For now, mark your calendars for this exciting day!

Strategic Planning Think Tank Day- Oct. 19

All GSA community members are invited and strongly encouraged to meet with our lead consultant, Greg Bamford, and share their hopes for the future of our school. At this upcoming “Think Tank,” Greg will share the process that will guide our planning efforts and engage you in some interactive exercises to share your reflections on the value of a GSA education and your ideas for how we might move forward as a school community.

The first opportunity is just a month away on October 19th. Everyone is invited to join a session during our Think Tank day. We have a morning opportunity (8:15-9:45am) and an evening session (6:30-8:00pm) to accommodate a variety of schedules. Please join us for this important part of our Strategic Planning journey!
